A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. They eventually touched on the subject of God.

Barber: I don't believe that God exists.
Customer: Why do you say that?
Barber: Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.

The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again.

Customer: You know what? Barbers don't exist.

Banyak Gereja dijual di Inggris

London, www.alislamu.com – Lebih dari 60 gereja di Inggris ditutup setiap tahun. Ratusan uskup mengatakan, ribuan gereja hanya didatangi 10 jamaah atau kurang setiap hari minggunya. Laporan terpisah The Ecclesiological Society, yayasan penjaga gereja, menyebutkan, 4 gereja dari 4.000 ribu gereja hanya dihadiri tak lebih dari 20 jamaah. Laporan ini mengingatkan kemungkinan ditutupnya gereja tersebut karena sedikitnya pengunjung. Yayasan mengatakan, jumlah warga Inggris yang melakukan ritual keagamaan meningkat dari 1 juta menjadi 3,5 % pada tahun 1970 dan 1,9 % pada tahun 2001. Tapi, dalam kurun waktu itu, 1.626 buah gereja Inggris ditutup, 360 darinya dihancurkan, 341 dipertahankan, dan 925 dirubah bentuknya menjadi tempat yang tidak ada kaitannya dengan keagamaan. Yaitu seperti perpustakaan, tempat olah raga, gedung pertunjukan, studio musik, ruang tarian, restoran, dan tempat tinggal.

Object kalimat atau complement berfungsi untuk melengkapi predicate atau verb. Letak object kalimat adalah setelah kata kerja. Object kalimat adalah menjawab pertanyaan ‘what’(apa) dan ‘whom’ (siapa). Hampir semua yang dapat digunakan sebagai subject kalimat, juga dapat digunakan sebagai object kalimat. Perkecualianya hanya pada bentuk pronoun (i.e. dari subject pronoun menjadi objeck pronoun atau reciprocal pronoun), dan kata there. Jika kata there berada setelah verb, there berfungsi sebagai modifier.

Jadi, pada umumnya object kalimat dapat berupa:
  1. Single nouns (contoh 1-3)
  2. Noun phrases (contoh 4-6)
  3. Noun clauses (contoh 7-9)
  4. Object pronouns (contoh 10-12)
  5. Reciprocal pronouns (contoh (13-15)
  6. Infinitives (contoh 16-18)
  7. Gerunds (contoh 19-21)
Berikut hanya diberikan 3 contoh untuk tiap elemen kalimat yang dapat digunakan sebagai object kalimat. Untuk melihat cara penggunaan dan contohnya lebih detail dari element kalimat tersebut, silakan click linknya masing-masing.

In grammar, a modifier (or qualifier) is an optional element in phrase structure or clause structure;[1] the removal of the modifier typically doesn't affect the grammaticality of the construction. Modifiers can be a word, a phrase or an entire clause. Semantically, modifiers describe and provide more accurate definitional meaning for another element.

English modifiers

In English, adverbs and adjectives prototypically function as modifiers, but they also have other functions. Moreover, other constituents can function as modifiers as the following examples show (the modifiers are in bold):
  • [Put it gently in the drawer]. (adverb in verb phrase)
  • She set it down [very gently]. (adverb in adverb phrase)
  • He was [very gentle]. (adverb in adjective phrase)

premodifier is a modifier placed before the head (the modified component). A postmodifier is a modifier placed after the head, for example:
  • land mines (pre-modifier)
  • mines in wartime (post-modifier)
  • time immemorial (post-modifier)
A few adjectives, borrowed from French, may be postmodifiers, generally with a change in meaning from their premodifier use. An example isproper:

They live in a proper town (in a real town)
They live in the proper town (in the town that's right for them)
They live in the town proper (in the town itself)

4 S+P+C+M this pattern is the most complex one among others, because it is made up of all the elements of the sentence. The parents gave their children food and Clothes yesterdayThere is a man in the room.
